Astrid Hartwig

Astrid is TACTICS’ Consulting Manager in Auckland. She has an MA (First Class Hons) in Linguistics and Literature and 20 years’ experience in publishing and information services. As a former senior manager in a multi-national corporation Astrid understands the strategic importance of effective documentation for the success of a business.  Astrid also manages our Auckland office. Outside of work she heads for the outdoors or design shops.

Chris Else

Chris is a senior consultant who has been associated with TACTICS since 1992. He has worked as an Information Mapping® instructor, documentation developer, information management consultant and project manager. He previously spent 10 years in the computer industry and has also worked as a teacher and bookseller. Chris is a well-published writer of fiction with six novels and two collections of short stories to his credit. He is a past president of the NZ Society of Authors and current chair of the board of directors of Copyright Licensing Ltd.


Dorit Hahn

A linguist with a background in language teaching, Dorit is a senior consultant at TACTICS and responsible for developing the American and European markets. She has delivered process mapping, documentation, instructional development and training delivery projects to an extensive range of industry clients. Dorit holds an MA in Intercultural Business Communication and is currently doing a PhD in Language Learning and Applied Linguistics. In her spare time, Dorit enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and explores Southern California.

Brian joined TACTICS in 2006. Brian has expertise in service contracts, sales tenders, and ISO9001 documentation. He writes, edits, and structures a wide range of technical documentation. Brian holds a PhD in Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Information Design, and has over 30 years experience in telecommunications engineering. In his spare time Brian is an avid photographer and travels the world taking amazing photographs.


Jeya Rayappan

Jeya is a Senior Consultant. Based in Kuala Lumpur, she collaborates with our Asian clients to deliver training and documentation projects, often related to Enterprise Resource Planning implementation. Jeya’s extensive project experience covers healthcare, oil and gas, banking, food, manufacturing and entertainment industries throughout Asia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing and IT Systems. Jeya’s passion is travelling. She is active in charitable activities related to women’s health and child education.

Louise Costin

Louise brings expertise in e-learning, instructional design, information architecture and knowledge management. With TACTICS since 2003, she has worked on a range of training, documentation and web-based projects. Louise previously worked as an interactive designer for an e-learning company, and is also an experienced facilitator in business process mapping. She holds an honours degree in accounting and finance. Louise has two boys under three and laughed when asked about spare time.

Carys' expertise is in instructional design, documentation development and process mapping. She joined TACTICS in 2007, after graduating with a degree in Neuroscience and Pharmacology. In her spare time Carys teaches martial arts, and she also has a passion for arts and crafts and vintage style.

Aaron’s background is in software engineering. Part writer, part Tech Support, Aaron has been involved in end-user documentation and training delivery projects in NZ, Asia and the Middle East. Aaron is a pop culture aficionado, and has over 100 pairs of sneakers.

James is a word enthusiast. He has been involved with numerous web-based and end-user documentation projects in both NZ and Asia. He is experienced in user testing, instructional development and training delivery. Before joining TACTICS as a technical writer in 2006, he completed a Media degree at Victoria University and briefly worked in the publishing industry. When not working you’ll most likely find James on a cricket field, especially in winter when he plays the indoor version for the Wellington team.
